In a video shared online, Agoro questioned why social media users often turn their attention to the husbands of successful women whenever they disagree with their wives’ actions or opinions.
She said some critics go as far as sending private messages to the husbands of women they disagree with, urging them to leave their marriages.
“I have a question. Why is it important to some of you that when a woman does something you don't approve of and her husband supports her, the man is suddenly weak, is a simp, and you expect her to be punished for it?” she asked.
Agoro also questioned what critics expected to happen to women whose actions they disapproved of, asking whether they wanted their husbands to leave them, publicly embarrass them or force them to stop posting online.
“What exactly will happen to her that will satisfy you? Her husband leaving her? She deactivates her Instagram and never posts for a long time? How about he embarrasses her publicly?” she said.
She argued that outsiders have no way of knowing what goes on within a couple’s marriage and should not assume that a man who supports his wife is unhappy or being controlled.
“Who told you that these husbands you are calling weak and simps are not the real backbones of their wives? Who told you that they are not happy? Did they come and explain to you that their marriage is in crisis?” Agoro asked.
She further suggested that some people struggle to accept the idea of being married to successful or powerful women because they associate masculinity with controlling their partners.
“I know why. It’s because some of you cannot fathom the possibility of ever being with a powerful woman. The kind of women you like are the ones where you can repress and dominate her life because that’s the only validation of your masculinity,” she said.
Agoro concluded by reminding social media users that their opinions do not determine the success of another couple’s marriage, describing them as “ranting internet strangers” whose approval does not count.
